HMRC continue to randomly selected thousands of companies and individuals for investigation. They collected over £10 billion last year from tax investigations – and this continues to increase thanks to their integrated computerised systems and advanced interrogation of financial information held on databases.
IMPORTANT: The additional costs of dealing with tax investigations are not included in your normal fees. Typically these can range from £750 to £12,000 in additional costs.
There has been a significant increase in the number of enquiries raised on individual returns and the tax authorities now have more powers than ever to investigate UK businesses. If you are selected for tax investigation we will naturally aim to settle it quickly and minimise your final tax liabilities and the costs involved in defending you.
We strongly recommend that all clients take advantage of the protection offered by our Tax Investigation Service from the start of the cover period on 1 February 2024. It costs you relatively little for a lot of peace of mind and protection. You will also benefit from a free 24 hour legal helpline for business matters.
