Brief:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for the right individual to join as a manager within the accounts/audit department. Davis Grant are a highly successful accounting practice based in Ilford, East London (10 mins from Stratford) with a continually growing team, currently standing at 45 team members. Our client base is hugely varied and includes clients in sectors from tech start-ups, property investment companies, wholesalers, retailers, consultants, large group companies and non-listed Plcs.
As accounts department manager you will be the primary client contact for your given portfolio working closely with the relevant Davis Grant Partner. You will have exposure to a wide range of clients and industries tailored to both your expertise and future career progression. Client contact will vary based on individual client demands from almost weekly to annually. Together with the other accounts managers you will be responsible for allocating client assignments within the work planner, to the correct level of accounts team member and ensuring the work is completed on time and within budget. You will be expected to provide constructive mentoring support to the accounts team as they continue on their professional journey.
Together with the other accounts managers, you should be continually looking for improvements within the client experience, internal efficiencies and accounts department team welfare.
You will be expected to work autonomously, managing and evaluating various client and internal demands to achieve agreed deadlines. We strive to continually exceed client expectations on service and delivery.
A proven track record of expertise in accounting and corporate tax and within varied industries is a pre-requisite for the role. A good level of VAT and personal tax is also important. What will make the successful candidate stand out are their inter-personal skills both verbal and written which must be outstanding.
IT knowledge is critical and we expect the right candidate to be exceptionally competent on Excel. They should also be comfortable with cloud based bookkeeping solutions. Financial modelling and cash flow projections are also often required by clients .
The role will be primarily office based, though we encourage accounts department managers to visit key clients as well as attending external meetings with the Partners. In addition, we would look to accounts department managers to look to get involved in business development

Job role:
- Manage a client portfolio of 75-100 limited company clients allocated based on the experience of the candidate.
- Portfolio expected to manage of c£400k
- Allocation of client assignments and team members on the work planner
- Review and feedback of accounts and supporting file
- Day to day client queries
- Be part of a management team responsible for the efficiencies and mentoring of the accounts department
- Budgeting and WIP management of client portfolio
- Weekly meetings and reporting with Partners
- Ensure technically up to date with latest accounting and tax aspects
- Taking on small short-term internal projects as they arise
Salary/Benefits:
- £48k-£60k
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays

Requirements:
- ACCA/ACA qualified
- Good knowledge of bookkeeping packages including Sage, Xero and Receipt Bank
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and data analysis techniques
- Good level knowledge of VAT, rules and schemes
- A good level of personal tax knowledge would be advantageous
- Knowledge of IRIS accounts suite would be advantageous
- Some previous audit exposure would be advantageous
- Superb written and spoken English
- Must be highly enthusiastic and self-motivated
- Can work as part of a team or independently
- Ability to drive would be useful
