Plus there are further improvements that you may not see including a new team kitchen and removal of internal walls. By providing more open-plan workspace and option to hot-desk, we are working to develop our already strong collaborative ethos. Being open and collaborative is a big part of our identity!

Inter-Firm ICAEW Karting Night

Last night two teams from Davis Grant hit the tracks to compete against other firms for the karting trophy. After stuttering start due to an organisational hiccup the 2-hour endurance race got underway.

The competition was fierce with some really serious and experienced racers on the track. Team Davis Grant took it as an opportunity to challenge and improve ourselves. We were proud of our novices for getting out there again and again even in the face of an intense track and some jarring crashes.

The faster racers had some healthy competition for theirĀ personal lap-times… Congratulations to our Partner Neil who beat the young trainee upstart Ryan by a mere 0.05 of a second to have the fastest lap! We look forward to seeingĀ the battle recommence next year.

Davis Grant supports Daggers Golf Day 2017

Our partner Neil Driver attended the Dagenham and Redbridge Gold Day this week. We were proud to be able to sponsor a hole and support the work of the Daggers Academy to develop local footballing talent.

Teeing Off on Davis Grant’s Hole

Out team came in 3rd place as a team competing for the ā€˜Bill Edmans Trophyā€™ but itā€™s the participation that counts surely?!? In any case, consolation was found by taking 1st and 2nd prizes in the raffle!

Thank you to everyone at Victoria Road for a great day on the greens. It was inspiring to hear from the Daggerā€™s boss John Still and we wish the team success in the promotion playoffs. Thanks also go to David James for the comical anecdotes!

Beat the Landlord Tax Rises – Event Summary

This past Monday all the Davis Grant partners gathered at the local branch of NatWest to get local property investors up to speed on critical tax changes that amount to a rising tax bill for Landlords.

The event was well attended with over 20 attendees who learnt about the key topics from Davis Grant’s own Barry Chernoff:

  • How the restriction of Mortgage Interest Tax relief may seriously reduce income from your Buy-to-Let properties.
  • Should you consider running your buy-to-let business as a company?

Also covered…

  • The additional Stamp Duty of 3% introduced to discourage buy-to-let investors.
  • Capital Gains Tax on residential property disposal.
  • How the removal of Wear and Tear allowance will affect how you manage your furnished properties.

Davis Grant Team Member in bid for Christmas #1

linda-stewartWe are proud that Linda Stewart our Bookkeeping Supervisor can be heard on a unique protest single released today by a group of music stars and MPs as a tribute to the late MP Jo Cox and her outstanding public service.

Sales from the song, a cover of the Rolling Stones classic You Canā€™t Always Get What You Want will raise funds for the launch of the Jo Cox Foundation established after her death. The song was chosen as it called for multiple singers and choirs, reflecting a message of togetherness. During a time of growing worldwide political upheaval and uncertainty, the song marks the need for unity and tolerance.

Linda took part along with theĀ Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus to formĀ Friends of Jo Cox featuring MP4, Steve Harley, Ricky Wilson, KT Tunstall and David Gray.

At Davis Grant we couldn’t be prouder and encourage you all to support this single and this remarkable causeĀ in honour of Jo Cox MPā€™s legacy and work.

Rooftop Crazy Golf Social Outing

At Davis Grant our large team of accountants love to escape the office and socialise with each other. LastĀ friday after work a group of us headed down to play Crazy Golf on a rooftop in Stratford with views of the Olympic Park and new home of West Ham United!

It was a really fun eveningĀ that included some amazing food and entertainment…

To make the golf rounds manageable the group split into teams or three or four with all departments and positions mixed together. Groups included Directors, Managers and TraineesĀ who all putted their wits against each other and pitched in to making the night a great success.

The scoring was quite rightly left to the Book-keepers and no-one could cry foul when it was one of their own Lorraine who tallied the best score.

After the official round the evening got really interesting with some of the team taking part in Archery, another round of golf or simply enjoying some food, the live music, and the photo booth!
