At Davis Grant it’s not just about providing our clients with amazing service. We occasionally get out together to celebrate the summer. In what is becoming a regular occasion, this month we again took to the rooftop of Stratford to battle it out at Crazy Golf.
We were glad to welcome four new team members Dylan, Gareth, Justine and Nyree. The team is growing including two ACCA student trainees amongst this cohort.

The team at Davis Grant today wishes Administrator Lesley well as she leaves the firm. She has a been a vital part of the support team for the past seven years. The team got together over a buffet lunch to swap stories, enjoy sandwiches and amazing cake!
I shall miss you all. It’s been a pleasure but I am also looking forward to seeing a bit more of the world, I’m not going to be putting my feet up! It’s been a joy, thank you very much.
Barry Chernoff, Director presented her with cards, gifts and thanks from the whole team and Partners.
Last night two teams from Davis Grant hit the tracks to compete against other firms for the karting trophy. After stuttering start due to an organisational hiccup the 2-hour endurance race got underway.

The competition was fierce with some really serious and experienced racers on the track. Team Davis Grant took it as an opportunity to challenge and improve ourselves. We were proud of our novices for getting out there again and again even in the face of an intense track and some jarring crashes.
The faster racers had some healthy competition for their personal lap-times… Congratulations to our Partner Neil who beat the young trainee upstart Ryan by a mere 0.05 of a second to have the fastest lap! We look forward to seeing the battle recommence next year.

Our partner Neil Driver attended the Dagenham and Redbridge Gold Day this week. We were proud to be able to sponsor a hole and support the work of the Daggers Academy to develop local footballing talent.
Out team came in 3rd place as a team competing for the ‘Bill Edmans Trophy’ but it’s the participation that counts surely?!? In any case, consolation was found by taking 1st and 2nd prizes in the raffle!

Thank you to everyone at Victoria Road for a great day on the greens. It was inspiring to hear from the Dagger’s boss John Still and we wish the team success in the promotion playoffs. Thanks also go to David James for the comical anecdotes!
The most recent batch of ACCA examination results are in and everyone at Davis Grant is proud to report that all our trainees taking part in this sitting stormed their exams! Congratulations to Adam, Katie and Ryan for passing their modules.
Lots of happy students on our timeline this morning! Congratulations to everyone who passed their most recent exams. #CelebrateACCA

We are proud that Linda Stewart our Bookkeeping Supervisor can be heard on a unique protest single released today by a group of music stars and MPs as a tribute to the late MP Jo Cox and her outstanding public service.
Sales from the song, a cover of the Rolling Stones classic You Can’t Always Get What You Want will raise funds for the launch of the Jo Cox Foundation established after her death. The song was chosen as it called for multiple singers and choirs, reflecting a message of togetherness. During a time of growing worldwide political upheaval and uncertainty, the song marks the need for unity and tolerance.
Linda took part along with the Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus to form Friends of Jo Cox featuring MP4, Steve Harley, Ricky Wilson, KT Tunstall and David Gray.
At Davis Grant we couldn’t be prouder and encourage you all to support this single and this remarkable cause in honour of Jo Cox MP’s legacy and work.
There were emotional scenes at the Davis Grant offices today as Lawrence Davis took the step of closing his office. He told the team how he had joined his father’s Accountancy Firm in 1971…
“I joined just for a few months to see whether I liked it” he quipped 45 years later, “I’ve decided now that I DON’T! So I’m going!”
Lawrence’s role giving occasional consultancy to the practice in recent years has been valued, especially in the area of resolving HMRC investigations for our clients.
He later wrote:
I would like to thank you all very much for your kindness and generosity, not in the financial sense, but the spirit in which I am always greeted.
During one’s lifetime we can all look back on decisions which were misguided or wrong. In my instance however the choice of work colleagues, friends and partners has been faultless and I am extremely grateful for the immense good fortune which I have encountered.
I have been extraordinarily fortunate. I wish you all continued happiness and success in the future.
Barry Chernoff, Director presented him with gifts to show the Teams appreciation but hinted that Lawrence wouldn’t be able to stay away. The prediction seems to be holding true as he will be lending us his experience again next month!
